BCS Rankings Week 10: Alabama Crimson Tide Climb to Top, Texas Tech Jumps to #2 in Latest Poll
The BCS rankings received a shakeup after Saturday’s action as the Texas Tech Red Raiders unseated the Texas Longhorns from college football’s top spot and the Alabama Crimson Tide bumped up one spot to assume the new role as the #1 team in the country.
Texas Tech was well rewarded for their last minute victory over the Longhorns as the Red Raiders are now the BCS #2, jumping an impressive five spots to land the pivotal ranking.
For Penn State, the Nittany Lions remain #3 in the latest BCS rankings after a bye-week but they could still find themselves in the BCS national championship game with the two schools ahead of them still having a lot of work to do.
Texas dropped three spots to #4 this week after their close loss in Lubbock but it will take a lot for them to climb back into the picture as they’ll need Texas Tech to drop two Big 12 games just to get to the Big 12 championship.
Following their blowout victory over the Georgia Bulldogs the Florida Gators moved up three spots to #5 this week and they now have inside position to get to the SEC Championship game where a victory could still get them a spot in the BCS title game.
The Oklahoma Sooners fell two spots in the BCS despite embarrassing Nebraska on Saturday and they’ll have a hard time moving up but they still have a shot at Texas Tech later in the year.
