The Iraqi government has decided to sell an luxury yacht that belonged to former dictator Saddam Hussein, who was executed for his political crimes on December 30, 2006.
“The cabinet has decided to sell the yacht of Saddam Hussein, docked in Nice (France), and the Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs were responsible for the transaction,” said government spokesperson Ali al Dabbagh.
The 82-metre Ocean Breeze features swimming pools, a mosque, a missile-launcher and a mini submarine.
French authorities seized the yacht in January after it docked in Riviera City. Since then, the Iraqi government and yacht brokerage company Sudeley Limited have been in a legal battle over the ownership of the boat.
Sudeley renounced ownership in July.
It is unclear how much the yacht is being sold for.
