French Aid Worker in Afghanistan Kidnapped by Gunmen

A French aid worker in Afghanistan has been kidnapped by gunmen while a second French national managed to escape capture.

According to reports the two aid workers were traveling in separate vehicles in the capital city of Kabul when the gunman blocked their path. A driver attempted to intervene but he was shot and killed while the two aid workers attempted to escape. One managed to get away while the second reportedly tripped and was caught by the gunmen.

The kidnapped French aid worker has been identified as 32-year-old Dany Egreteau who had arrived in the country just one week ago.

There has been no contact with the kidnappers or knowledge of their demand.
