Gunman Waving American Flag Holds Up Santa Barbara Freeway

A masked man armed with a handgun and waving an American Flag held up the northbound 101 Freeway in Santa Barbara, California Monday morning. The gunman was first spotted around 7:15 a.m. and forced authorities to shut down traffic at the La Cumbre overpass.

Authorities made contact with the man but do not know what he wants or who he is. SWAT teams and a crisis negotiation team are on hand. It is unclear if the man has been apprehended. No shots have been fired.
