Inmate Telephone Service Offers Discount International Prison Phone Calls

To help combat the high cost of international inmate calling, Pacific Telephone Company LLC in Los Angeles is now offering an international calling plan to help lower the cost of inmate phone calls overseas and still maintain a prisons security of its calls.

What we do is install a telephone line that is local to whatever institution our customer's loved one is being held at. The inmate then dials the local phone line that we've assigned to them, and then we send the call over out our communications network to whatever international location our customer has contracted for at the discounted rate of 25¢ per minute. Because the call originated from a telephone inside the prison, the call went through the same security monitoring that all outgoing calls due, with the only thing being compromised is the higher price. Pacific Telephone also offers a domestic prison calling service plan with rates as low as 5¢ per minute serving jails and prison throughout the United States.

HOW THE DOMESTIC PRISON CALLING PLAN WORKS

Lets say Steve Smith who's an inmate at the Nevada State Prison outside of Las Vegas calls his wife Lisa long distance in New York for 16 minutes using the prison's phone system. He would be charged $16.14 by the prison's phone system to complete the call.

Since Steve calls his wife on the average of twice a week, the Smith family pays out approximately $129.00 per month for calls.

Lisa, fed up with the inflated price of prison calls, contacts Pacific Telephone, who then installs a Foreign Exchange number in Nevada local to the prison. Steve now calls a local Las Vegas number that is installed to ring on his wife's phone back in New York. Instead of charging Steve $16.15 for a long distance call, the Nevada prison now charges Steve for a $1.45 local call.

Pacific Telephone then sends the call to Lisa in New York over its network charging a $0.05 per minute fee or $0.75 to complete the call, for a total cost of $2.20, resulting in a $13.85 savings per call.
