The mother of Anne Pressly, the Little Rock, Arkansas television news anchor who was brutally attacked in her home and later died, appeared on NBC’s TODAY show on Monday and spoke with host Matt Lauer.
Patti Cannady described how she arrived at her daughter’s home around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 20 after she failed to reach her by phone. Cannady told Lauer, “I went through the house calling for her and I found her and she was still alive; she was still alive, trying to breathe. I was just telling her how much I loved her, that I was going to get help. So I called 911 and they stayed with me until the first officer arrived.”
Anne Pressly, 26, was found bludgeoned, suffering multiple injuries to her head and upper body and struggling to breathe. Pressly was rushed to a hospital but died from her injuries six days later.
Police have not identified a suspect in the case but have said they collected DNA evidence.
Guy Cannady, Anne’s father, was also on the TODAY show and when asked about the suspect he said, “Right now, we have a vicious killer who’s on the loose. Anyone who is capable of doing a crime of this magnitude is certainly capable of doing it again. That’s one of the concerns that the police in Little Rock have, and also the other young, single women in Little Rock and the other news personalities in particular.”
