IranAir Plane Crash Leaves 72 Dead, 22 Injured

An IranAir plane carrying 105 passengers crashed Sunday night, killing 72 people and leaving 33 others injured. The Mehr News Agency reports all 12 crew members were killed.

Initial reports indicate the Boeing 727 was preparing to make an emergency landing in a snow covered field in Iran when it crashed. The plane, which was on its way to Orumiyeh from Tehran, did not explode upon impact. The cause of the crash remains unclear.

Bad weather hampered rescue efforts. Roads had to be cleared before rescuers could reach the crash site. No other details were available.
