Mila Kunis not obsessed by career

Mila Kunis would "go crazy" if she based her happiness on her career.

The actress - who has been winning rave reviews for her performance in ballet movie 'Black Swan' opposite Natalie Portman - insists she can separate her personal life from her professional life and refuses to let the opinions of critics or Hollywood bosses determine who she is.

She said: "I've survived in this industry because I made a conscious decision that my career was going to be not who I am but what I do. I detach myself from it on a daily basis and have done my entire life.

"The problem with anything to do with entertainment - acting, dancing - if your happiness is based on what you do, you're doomed to failure.

"I think I would go crazy if all my life and all my happiness were dependent upon acting because the problem with this industry is that it's all a matter of opinion. Someone might think I'm a great actress, someone else might think I suck, neither is wrong, it's just a matter of opinion. So if I gauge my happiness on another person's opinion? I'd want to kill myself."

The 27-year-old star insists there is nothing she enjoys more in life than watching TV with her friends when she isn't working and she would much rather stay at home than go out to celebrity parties.

She added in an interview with The Scotsman: "I love to hang out with my friends. It's a very simple answer but I love to sit home in my pyjamas and watch TV. That brings me so much happiness. That's it. It's quiet and calm. It's great. People should do it all the time."

Earlier this month, it was revealed Mila had separated from her boyfriend Macaulay Culkin.

The couple dated for eight years but decided to "amicably" end their relationship a couple of months ago before making the announcement at the start of 2011.
