Alex Reid is "hopeful" he and Katie Price can resolve their marriage problems.
The cage fighter and his spouse - who he wed in Las Vegas in February 2010 - recently jetted off on holiday to an island in the Indian Ocean in a bid to repair their strained relationship and the 35-year-old star is confident the break had a positive impact.
He said: "What is true is that we have both been under pressure and it has affected us. So yes, we've been having difficulties, but we're hopeful we will get it sorted. We went on holiday over the New Year to reconnect, and it felt like we did.
"It was like a weight had been lifted when we admitted we were having problems, and since then we've been getting on like a house on fire!"
Alex is so confident the couple's marriage is back on track he revealed they are still planning to try for a baby, despite two recent failed attempts at in vitro fertilisation (IVF).
He added in his column for Britain's Star magazine: "And no, our plans for having kids are not on hold."
Despite the serious reason behind their break, Alex insists he and Katie - who has three children, Harvey, eight, Junior, five, and three-year-old Princess Tiaamii from previous relationships - still managed to have fun on their holiday.
He said: "Our holiday resort in the Indian Ocean was a lovely place, and really hot. I have come back with a great tan - and it is au naturel for once!
"We did a lot of relaxing, played ping-pong - which Katie kept winning at - and had fun and a romantic time generally."
