Authorities in Acapulco, Mexico discovered 15 headless bodies over the weekend. The Guerrero State Public Security office said a group of burning vehicles led to the discovery.
The bodies and heads were dumped on a street outside the Plaza Senderos shopping center. Handwritten signs were left with the bodies. Authorities have not revealed what the signs said. A 16th body was also discovered in a car. All of the victims were men. Authorities believe a drug cartel is responsible for the killings.
A spokeswoman for the public security office said the area where the bodies were dumped is not a place frequented by tourists. "It's a shopping center where locals go regularly, but it's not that far away from the tourist areas. They were found on a popular highway used to get to the tourist area," the rep said.
