Aerosmith plan new album

Steven Tyler wants Aerosmith to release a new album before the end of the year.

The 'Walk This Way' group's frontman said is ready to go into the studio as soon as possible and would like the band to have their 15th studio record ready by the end of summer.

Steven - who is a judge on the new series of US TV show 'American Idol' - told USA Today newspaper: "We're taking a break. Not that doing an album's taking a break. I've called most of them and said, 'Let's get together in Los Angeles'.

"So, January, February, March, April, May, we're going to be working on the new record, hopefully recording in June, July and August, and then going on tour September, October, November, December, and then I'll be doing 'Idol' again."

The band haven't released an album since 2004's 'Honkin On A Bobo' - a collection of covers and one original track - but have had a turbulent time over the last two years, which have seen Steven, 62, almost quit the group and subsequently go through rehab for painkillers - causing the group to announce they were to look for a new singer.

The original line up was subsequently reunited onstage, but later in 2010 Steven fell out with guitarist Joe Perry over his appointment to 'American Idol', and earlier this week he said the axe man is only member of the band he has not been in contact with.

Steven said: "Joe's got LSD - Lead Strummer Disorder. We've been brothers forever. He's just going through his thing. I think the rings of Saturn are composed entirely of unrecorded Joe Perry licks floating around in the ether somewhere."
