Muse blinded by the lights?

Muse fear their live light show could blind them.

The 'Uprising' rockers have a huge stage set and light show for their concerts, which includes lasers so powerful they have made them fear for their eyesight.

Drummer Dominic Howard, 33, explained: "We got some big white balloons, threw them into the audience and decided to focus the lasers on them. It was like a slow burn that gradually disintegrated them into nothing. We all thought, 'What the hell will our corneas be like in 20 years?'

"We could end up like that amazing vocal group the Blind Boys Of Alabama - getting around doing it really well but not seeing anything."

Dominic may not have to worry, however, as singer and guitarist, Matt Bellamy - who completes the band alongside bass player Christopher Wolstenholme - has said the group are likely to scale back their grandiose shows for their next project, as he has been craving more intimate performances.

He said: "I feel like we can't go much bigger in terms of the kinds of concerts we're playing. Weirdly, that seems to have coincided with my personal life destabilising and I was doing lots of self-analysing.

"I sense that that's going to lead to a writing project that will be more personal, rather than talking about grand political concerns. That itself might lead to material that's more suitable for smaller venues."
