Princess Mary and twins to leave hospital

Denmark's Princess Mary is set to take her newborn twins home from hospital in the next two days.

The 38-year-old princess and husband Crown Prince Frederik have been proudly showing their newborn baby boy and girl to visitors at Copenhagen's Rigshospitalet hospital since their birth on Saturday (08.01.11).

However the twins - who were born naturally- are now undergoing a series of health checks by doctors before they can get the all-clear to go home.

Frederik, 42, will be thrilled with the news after visitors that although the princess is doing "really well", he is exhausted after visiting the hospital every day while helping to look after their two eldest children Prince Christian, five, and Princess Isabella, three, at home.

Mary's former sister-in-law Alexandra Christina told Australia's Daily Telegraph after her visit to meet the twins the princess was up and about with "lots of energy".

However she added of Frederik: "He looks more tired than her, but they are extremely happy.

"I think they are happy to get home and start life as a whole family."

The twins have already been dubbed "double trouble" by their father and Christian and Isabella are reportedly "thrilled" with their baby siblings.

The names of the two newborns - who were born 26 minutes apart - will not be revealed until their mother announces them at their christening in three months' time.

Royal aides at the family's Amalienborg Palace home in Copenhagen are now preparing for the babies' arrival.
