As prescription drug abuse soars and 27 million Americans are now in need of drug rehabilitation, it follows that drug rehab centers are needed in sufficient quantity to service this demand.
Although drug addiction often goes unnoticed, it affects many more lives than just the addict’s. Drug addiction tears apart families, increases crime and burdens our judicial system. It's even highly suspected that the recent Tucson, AZ gunman may have been on drugs. The gunman's former teacher and several classmates stated that he appeared to be on drugs. His behavior described that of someone on drugs, most likely prescription drugs. It’s well known that the FDA has labeled numerous prescription drugs as having serious mental health risks, including homicidal and suicidal tendencies.
Narconon East U.S. is a non-profit organization that works in establishing Narconon drug prevention centers in the eastern United States. Given the huge increase in drug addiction, they strive to create many new Narconon centers, which deliver a completely non-drug and fully comprehensive program that creates productive, drug-free individuals. The Narconon program success rate is four times that of the international average.
Narconon also delivers drug education lectures in schools. Millions of children have been reached through their drug education talks and demonstrations. Their lectures don't just tell kids to "say no" to drugs, but fully educate children on what drugs actually are and what they do to the body and the mind. The result is a child or teenager who not only says no, but also knows why, as they now understand the harm drugs can do. Tens of thousands of success stories attest to the benefits these lectures have had in changing lives.
As a non-profit organization, Narconon relies in part on donations to help fund its expansion and drug education lectures. Unlike some other "traditional rehabs," having a Narconon in one's community improves it. Narconon students learn moral principles to guide their future lives, such as "Be Worthy of Trust" and "Safeguard and Improve Your Environment." There are 21 such precepts they learn to apply. They graduate and begin applying these principles in their areas. One for one, Narconon graduates wish to give back to their families and communities and this improves the lives of others around them.
If one is concerned about the sharp rise in drug addiction. If one wishes to have a drug-free and crime-free community, supporting Narconon is a positive step in that direction.
Although opening any drug rehab facility has its fair share of red tape to overcome, the mission of Narconon East U.S. is to help individuals or groups interested in defeating this scourge and thus create drug free zones in all the areas it services.
