John Travolta to receive Golden Camera

John Travolta will be honoured with the Golden Camera at a ceremony in Germany next month.

The 'Wild Hogs' star - whose wife Kelly Preston gave birth to their third child, a son named Benjamin, in November - will follow in the footsteps of Richard Gere, Bruce Willis, Nicolas Cage and Sylvester Stallone when he accepts the best actor international award in Berlin on February 5 and John says he couldn't be happier.

He said: "Receiving the Golden Camera best actor international award is a huge honour for me. Over the past few months, so many positive things have happened to my family and me.

"Becoming a dad again has ignited such joy within me... But I also take great pride in my work, and it's wonderful to have it recognised in such a way."

Christian Hellmann, editor-in-chief at leading German listings magazine Horzu, which presents the Golden Cameras said the 'Saturday Night Fever' actor - whose 16-year-old son Jett died after suffering a seizure two years ago - is being honoured for his entire body of work and his ability to remain successful for so long.

He said: "John Travolta is one of the very few stars who have managed to stay on top of Hollywood's A-list for decades.

"He is iconic and one of the greatest actors in the world."

The 56-year-old star is a noted Scientologist and although many Germans view the religion as a dangerous cult, Christian revealed he isn't worried about this affecting the awards.

He said: "Yes, Scientology is controversial in Germany, but we aren't honouring Travolta's beliefs; we're honouring his work. And he is and remains one of the most popular stars here."

Danny Devito picked up the Golden Camera last year.
