Mexican Interior Minister Juan Camilo Mourino Killed in Plane Crash

Mexican Interior Minister Juan Camilo Mourino was among seven people killed on Tuesday night when the plane they were traveling in crashed in Mexico City.

The Learjet, carrying Mourino and several senior advisers back from a trip to San Luis Potosi, burst into flames as it came crashing down in the city’s financial district. The cause of the crash has not yet known.

While it is believed the crash was an accident Mourino had been in charge of security for the government which has been involved in several violent clashes with drug cartels.

Officials have said they expect the death toll to rise as several cars were destroyed as the plane slammed into the rush-hour traffic inside the city.
