Nepal's former Crown Prince is set to lose his royal protection team after firing a gun during a drunken row in a restaurant.
Paras Shah - full name Paras Bir Bikram Shah Dev - the former heir to the now abolished throne, admitted setting off a firearm after a late-night drinking session with tourists in a jungle holiday resort last month.
Mr. Shah, 39, along with the other former royals have been protected by the Nepal Army and police force - paid for by the state - since the monarchy was dissolved in 2008.
However following the incident, the ex prince is set to lose his elite security guards, an army insider has claimed.
The source told Nepal's Republica newspaper: "While the ex-royals get out on drinking sprees and recreational activities, how long can commoners' sons become scapegoats of their misconduct."
The insider also claimed the army had no intention to re-deploy personnel to protect him, after his involvement in a string of gun brawls while drunk.
The latest saw Mr Shah - who was unpopular with Napalis for his playboy lifestyle and drunken nights out - fire a gun after a row with tourists at the luxury Tiger Tops resort in the country's Chitwan national park.
He admitted to lashing out after "they said negative things about my former role and the institution I represented".
He then confessed: "When my family and all the guests had left the restaurant, I fired one bullet in the air because I could not tolerate the insult upon me and my country."
