Frozen tongue

An eight-year-old US student had to be rescued after getting his tongue stuck to a metal pole when a dare went wrong.

The unnamed boy was challenged to lick the frozen 'Stop' sign outside a local middle school by his brother but quickly became stuck.

Rescue crews arrived at the scene to find the unfortunate youngster standing on his tip-toes, trying to work his tongue off the frozen pole.

Paramedics eventually managed to free him by pouring hot water on his tongue before taking him to hospital for treatment.
