Tinie Tempah leads BRIT nominations

Tinie Tempah leads the pack for the BRIT Awards 2011, with four nominations.

The 'Written In The Stars' rapper has received nods in the British Male Solo Artist, British Single, British Breakthrough Act and Mastercard British Album of the year categories, it was announced tonight (13.01.11).

Going head to head against 22 year old Tinie in the latter two categories are folk group Mumford And Sons, who are also listed in the British Group category.

Equalling their nominations are The xx, who find themselves listed in the running for the same three awards.

After hearing of his success, Tinie re-tweeted a post by radio host Reggie Yates reading: "4 BRITS nominations for @TinieTempah gettum brother!!!(sic)"

Tinie then added: "Thanx brother Madness... Onwards & Upwards! (sic)"

Also nominated for Mastercard British Album, the biggest award of the night, are Plan B for his 'The Defamation Of Strickland Banks' record and Take That's 'Progress'.

The rapper performed at the nominations announcement at The O2 in London, rapping his track 'Wonderman' with another rising star, Ellie Goulding, who is nominated for two awards, British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act.

Also performing at the event were boyband The Wanted and newcomer Jessie J, who has been named as the recipient of the Critic's Choice BRIT Award this year.
