Denmark's Princess Mary is to take her newborn twins home from hospital later today (14.01.11).
The 38-year-old princess and husband Crown Prince Frederik are said to be getting ready to leave Copenhagen's Rigshospitalet hospital with their newborn boy and girl almost a week after their birth last Saturday (08.01.11).
A statement by the palace confirmed they were set to be discharged from hospital and asked the media not to use flash cameras near the babies.
The twins - who were born naturally - had to be given the all-clear by doctors before being taken to the family' s Amalienborg Palace home where they will be welcomed by their older siblings Christian, five, and Princess Isabella, three.
Dad Frederik, 42, is likely to be thrilled with the news according to visitors who say while the princess has been doing "really well", he is exhausted after visiting the hospital every day while helping to look after their eldest children back home.
Mary's former sister-in-law Alexandra Christina said of Frederik after visiting the hospital last week: "He looks more tired than Mary, but they are extremely happy.
"I think they are happy to get home and start life as a whole family."
The twins have already been dubbed "double trouble" by their father and Christian and Isabella are reportedly "thrilled" with their baby siblings.
The names of the two newborns - who were born 26 minutes apart - will not be revealed until their mother announces them at their christening in three months' time.
