Thousands of dead fish have washed up on a Chicago lakeside in the US.
An unspecified number of gizzard shad fish - between three and five inches long - have been pictured encased in ice.
As a result, a number of birds including Canadian geese and mallards have been seen eating them, despite not normally eating fish.
No other fish seem to be involved in the "die-off" of fish, which may be due to the extreme cold being experienced in the region.
