NFL Thursday Night: Brady Quinn Gets First Start as Cleveland Browns Host Denver Broncos

Cleveland Browns (3-5) fans are finally getting what they wanted as first-round pick Brady Quinn will be taking the snaps on Thursday night when the Denver Broncos (4-4) come into town in the NFL’s first Thursday night game of the season.

Quinn will be making his first NFL regular season start after being drafted in 2007 late in the first round. The 24-year-old QB attempted just eight passes last year and has yet to see any action in the 2008 campaign. Sitting three games back of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North, the Browns can’t afford another loss after blowing a lead last week at home to the Baltimore Ravens.

The same could be said for the Broncos who started the year 4-1 but have dropped their last three and looked awful in the process. Denver’s defense is ranked 29^th in the NFL and have surrendered an average of 27.6 points per game. That would be a step up for the Browns who are averaging a paltry 17.8 points per game

Denver does have the third ranked offense in the NFL, putting up 374 yards per game but that has produced just 23.8 points per game. In their first three games, all wins, they scored 41, 39 and 34 points but in their last five they have scored 19, 16, 17, 7 and 17.

While the Broncos still hold a game lead over the San Diego Chargers in the AFC West they are desperately trying to stop their three game slide and establish some breathing room.

Kickoff for Thursday night’s game is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
