Trent Reznor scoops Golden Globe

Trent Reznor won a Golden Globe last night for his work on 'The Social Network' soundtrack.

The industrial rocker described picking up the Best Original Score trophy for the score - which he wrote alongside musical collaborator Atticus Ross - last night (16.01.11) as "surreal", adding he never expected to even work on a film.

Accepting his trophy in Los Angeles, Trent said: "A year ago I had no idea I'd have the opportunity to score a film. The idea of standing up here to accept this award is surreal."

'The Social Network' - a fictional film about the rise of online communication, based loosely on the founding of website Facebook by Mark Zuckerberg - was the big winner at the Golden Globes, taking home four trophies including 'Best Picture (Drama)'.

Trent - who rose to fame in the 90s under the name Nine Inch Nails, and is now in a group with his wife Mariqueen Maandig and Atticus called How To Destroy Angels - later posted a message on twitter simply saying: "Holy s**t."

As part of the score he and Atticus reworked classical piece 'In The Hall Of The Mountain King' by Edvard Grieg.

The musician has also recently announced he will score the US film adaptation of 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,' based on the novel by Stieg Larsson.
