Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding souvenirs have been re-designed - after royal aides realised they bore the initials "WC".
Designers have had to change the order of the letters to avoid embarrassing the royal couple after realising the potential for toilet humour and Kate, 29, will now be the first royal bride in history to have her initial before the groom's on the commemorative china.
A royal insider told Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper: "If they followed tradition with the man's name first, as in the case of Charles and Diana, it would be an embarrassing royal flush."
The final design - with a silver C for Catherine and an intertwined gold W for William - has been approved by the duo ahead of their April 29 nuptials.
The fine bone china items commissioned by the Royal Collection, including a plate, tankard and a pillbox, also feature hand painted doves carrying gold rings and hearts.
They are also decorated with the words, "To celebrate the Marriage of Prince William of Wales and Catherine Middleton."
A royal spokesperson added: "The Royal Collection has been working on the design since around the time of the engagement - it's a very fast moving process."
