A girl abducted from Columbus, Georgia was found unharmed over the weekend in Jasper, Alabama. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued an Amber Alert for 13-year-old Fabiola Morales on Saturday saying she was believed to be in “extreme danger.”
Morales and her kidnapper, 18-year-old Luis Garcia, were found around 4 a.m. Sunday at a Jasper home. Garcia, who has a previous kidnapping warrant, was arrested and is being held by the Walker County Sheriff’s Department in Alabama. Authorities will seek to have Garcia extradited to Georgia to face kidnapping charges.
In a phone conversation with the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, Fabiola’s mother Edna Morales said her daughter was okay.
Columbus Detective Lance Deaton said Garcia and Morales were tracked down by phone searches and information gathering. Morales was first reported missing Thursday by her grandmother, who discovered the teen was gone when she went to wake her up for school.
