Olly Murs has set a new world record for tea making.
The former 'X Factor' runner-up - who narrowly lost out to Joe McElderry in the 2009 series of the ITV1 talent competition - joined forces with T4's Battlefront.co.uk campaigner Alex Loughlin to make a staggering 496 cups of tea in just one hour yesterday (16.01.11).
Supported by a whole host of the 'Thinking Of Me' hitmaker's family and friends in his home county of Essex, the duo succeeded in their attempt to smash the existing Guinness World Record.
Olly said: "It is such a great feeling to have set a new world record with Alex. I've always loved tea and this just takes the biscuit!"
Meanwhile, Alex took part in the world record attempt to raise awareness of his 'Meet Your Street' campaign, which aims to bring neighbourhoods together as one.
He added: "I'm campaigning to bring neighbourhoods together. I want people to Meet Their Street and see the benefits it has on breaking down prejudices, lowering crime and creating a real sense of community.
"I am so delighted to have broken the Guinness World Record with Olly, and that he was here to help raise awareness for this important cause."
