Unemployment Law Resource Center Updated by Lawyer Central

Lawyer Central has recently updated its Unemployment Law Resource Center, a comprehensive source of information about unemployment law and unemployment rights. In most states, people who lose their jobs through no fault of their own are legally entitled to collect unemployment compensation benefits. Unemployment Insurance (UI) is an employee support system, operated and funded by federal and state taxes, which provides monetary benefits, job training, and job search assistance for unemployed individuals.

Lawyer Central’s Unemployment Resource Center now features a guide to unemployment hearings, including an overview of how to prepare for the hearing, what to expect during the hearing, and the appeals process if your claim is denied. Information about eligibility requirements for unemployment benefits, disqualifying factors, the application process, and the stages of an unemployment claim are also available for those looking to research their unemployment options. Although specific laws regarding unemployment insurance vary by state, the manner in which you become unemployed (e.g. if you quit, were fired, or laid off) often affects your eligibility for unemployment compensation. Lawyer Central’s Unemployment Resource Center offers an explanation for how each of these scenarios will affect your chances of receiving unemployment compensation, as well as the rights that you have.  A link to information on the different types of unemployment insurance from the Department of Labor and an international unemployment news center are also available.
