The #1 Alabama Crimson Tide (9-0, 5-0) have battled their way to the top of the rankings this year and despite all their impressive wins there are many questioning whether Nick Saban will be able to take his team on the road and knock off the #15 LSU Tigers (6-2, 3-2) in a key SEC clash.
Alabama is a virtual lock to win the SEC West and play in the SEC Championship but the Crimson Tide have bigger aspirations and if they get past the Tigers on Saturday the likelihood of reaching the BCS title game in Miami is greatly increased.
Upsetting the Tide will be no easy task for LSU as Alabama has the nation’s #6 scoring defense, allowing just 12.2 points per game and rushing against the Tide is next to impossible as they have held opponents to just 65.56 yards per game. That’s not good news for LSU as they’ve relied heavily on running back Charles Scott to provide most of their offense; Scott averages 111.13 yards per game and has 11 touchdowns on the year.
LSU’s defense has suffered through an off year, ranking #58 in the country allowing 23.9 points per game. Alabama is averaging 32.2 points per game and has been much more impressive on the road this year than at home. With blowout wins over the Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Volunteers the Tide will look for the tri-fecta on Saturday.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
