A Columbus TV news anchor died Friday morning. Heather Pick, 38, passed away at her home surrounded by her family. She died of breast cancer.
Pick was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999. In 2004, she learned that the cancer had spread to her spine and pelvis. Pick was outspoken on breast cancer awareness and education. She promoted Breast Cancer Awareness in October by wearing a pink wig on WBNS.
"The sadness and loss we feel for Joe, Julia, Jack and all of Heather's family and friends is immeasurable," said Tom Griesdorn, the president and general manager of WBNS-10TV. "But for Heather, we feel nothing but pride in how bravely she fought this fight and the never-ending dedication to battling this disease for herself and for others. The world has truly lost a very special woman."
Pick is survived by her husband and two children.
