First Round Results from the Australian Open

Three matches have been completed in today's action at the Australian Open.

France's Jo-Wilfriend Tsonga, the thirteenth ranked player, beat Philipp Petzschner of Germany after dropping the first two sets 4 - 6, 2 - 6.  he won the last three 6 - 2, 6 - 3, 6 - 4.

Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina was beaten by France's Michael Llodra in four sets 3 - 6, 6 - 3, 2 - 6, 4 - 6.  Llodra is ranked 22nd in the world.

Hometown star Lleyton Hewitt of Australia also saw an early exit in this year's tounrament, losing to 27th ranked David Nalbandian of Argentina.  hewitt won the first set 6 - 3, lost the second 4 - 6, bounced back to win the third 6 - 3, lost the fourth 6 -7 and the fifth 7 - 9.
