AP Top 25 College Football Scores: #5 Texas Longhorns Bounce Back, Pound Baylor Bears in Big 12 Match-Up

Colt McCoy was 26/37 passing for 300 yards and five touchdowns, Quan Cosby had eight receptions for 111 yards and a pair of TDs and Jordan Shipley had six receptions for 81 yards and a score as the #5 Texas Longhorns (9-1, 5-1) rattled off 31 straight points to blast the Baylor Bears (3-7, 1-5) 45-21 in Big 12 action on Saturday.

McCoy gave the Longhorns a 14-0 lead in the first quarter with touchdown passes of 35-yards to Cosby and a one-yard toss to Greg Smith but the Bears fought back to tie the score in the second quarter as Robert Griffin scored on a one-yard keeper and then hit Kendall Wright on a 55-yard TD pass to put the score at 14-14.

Texas regrouped as Ryan Palmer picked off Griffin and returned it 22-yards for a touchdown and the lead and then McCoy and Cosby hooked up on a 26-yard TD just before the end of the half.

The scoring continued in the third quarter for the Longhorns with McCoy tossing another two touchdowns, a 40-yarder to Brandon Collins and a 15-yarder to Shipley to put the score at 42-14 and the Bears had no answer.

Texas rolled up 494 yards of offense and collected 30 first downs on the day while their defense limited the Bears to just 1-11 on third down attempts and just nine first downs on the day.
