Mother of Anorexic Model Isabelle Caro Commits Suicide

The mother of Isabelle Caro, the French model who died in November after a long battle with anorexia, has reportedly died. Marie Caro committed suicide earlier this month, according to the Swiss newspaper 20 minutes.

Marie’s husband Christian says she felt guilty about putting Isabelle in the Bichat Hospital, where the 28-year-old died while battling acute respiratory disease. "[Marie] felt guilty for having put my daughter in the Bichat Hospital. My daughter did not want to go to that hospital," Christian told 20 Minutes.

Isabelle’s battle with anorexia was thrust into the spotlight after she posed nude in a 2007 ad campaign against the disease. She had suffered from anorexia since the age of 13.
