Chicago Cubs catcher Geovany Soto has been named the National League Rookie of the Year after nabbing 31 of 32 first-place votes from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
Playing the most demanding position in the game Soto still managed to be an offensive machine for the Cubs as he hit 23 HRs, had 86 RBIs and hit .285. Soto led the Cubs to the NL Central title and into the National League playoffs.
Joey Votto of the Cincinnati Reds picked up the other first-place vote after putting together an impressive campaign in which he hit 24 HRs, had 84 RBIs and hit .297.
