Oakland A’s Nearing Deal for Colorado Rockies Matt Holliday

It appears Matt Holliday has seen his final days in Colorado as the Oakland A’s have apparently reached  a deal with the Rockies that would send Greg Smith  and at least one other player to the National League West club for the left fielder.

Holliday has been the face of the Rockies over his five years of MLB service, widely considered the most popular player on the club. He hit .321 last year with 25 HRs and 88 RBIs in 139 games. The three-time All-Star has compiled a .319 batting average and hit 128 home runs in a Rockies uniform. He finished second behind Jimmy Rollins in the NL MVP vote in 2007 and is scheduled to become a free-agent after next year.

Rumors had placed Holliday in a Cardinals jersey but that deal has apparently fallen apart.
