Russell Brand is set to star in 'Rock of Ages'.
The British comedian is in talks to appear in the film, which will be adapted from the '80s hair rock-fuelled musical, to take on the role of Lonny, the manager of the Sunset Strip rock club owned by Dennis Dupree.
Lonny is also the narrator of the story, which follows aspiring rocker Drew as he finds love, rejection and ultimately his dream, although not the one he original wanted.
The musical features songs from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Asia and the big screen version is to be directed Adam Shankman, who helmed 'Hairspray'.
Russell is not the only star being lined up for the film - Alec Baldwin is tipped to play Dennis Dupree, while Tom Cruise has been asked to play a bartender and would get to sing some classic rock songs from the 80s, which appear in the musical.
