San Francisco Giants right-hander Tim Lincecum has been named the National League Cy Young Award winner by the Baseball Writers Association of America, topping Arizona Diamondbacks ace Brandon Webb in the voting.
Lincecum earned 23 of 32 first-place votes and tallied 137 points to top Webb who gathered 73 points from voters.
The hard-throwing Lincecum was the lone bright spot in a dismal season for the Giants as the second-year star went 18-5 with a 2.68 ERA while striking out 265 in 227 innings. San Fran finished 72-90 on the year, fourth in the NL West.
