Elizabeth Hurley has been bitten by her parrot.
The 45-year-old actress was delighted to be gifted the Blue Fronted Amazonian named Ping Pong for Christmas but is not pleased with how they have bonded since the bird arrived in her home last week.
She tweeted: "Ping Pong is enchanting but has delivered the odd sharp nip. Ow. Hope it's just her settling in..."
Parrots can be taught to mimic human speech and Elizabeth - who only met her new pet on Saturday (22.01.11) when she returned to the UK from Los Angeles - is disappointed that her feathered friend is so far silent.
She posted: "No speech from the Ping yet..."
Prior to receiving her parrot, the 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me' star - who has an eight-year-old son Damian from her relationship with Steve Bing - had admitted she was nervous about being bitten.
She tweeted: "Have been studying parrot attacks on You Tube. Slightly nervous. (sic)"
Elizabeth announced in December she had split from husband Arun Nayar "months ago" following revelations she had grown close to former Australian cricketer Shane Warne.
However, she parted ways with the sportsman soon afterwards after it emerged he had been sending lewd text messages to another woman, but they are now believed to have reconciled after they were spotted enjoyed a cosy lunch at Los Angeles' five-star Casa Del Mar hotel last week.
A fellow hotel guest said: "They looked very taken with each other. They were stroking each other's faces and were very tactile. It was quite sweet to watch and they seem to care for each other very much.
"They were very happy, like two teenagers."
