Bus Crash in Pakistan Leaves 32 Dead

Police in southern Pakistan say 32 people, many of them women and children, were killed Sunday when a bus collided with an oil tanker and burst into flames. The accident happened on a highway in the district of Jamshoro in Sindh province.

The bus was carrying 45 passengers when it spun out of control and crashed into the tanker. Most of the passengers were trapped in the bus and burned to death. Ten people were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. Speed was a factor in the accident, according to police official Muhammad Farooq.

"The driver lost control of the bus and hit an oil tanker from the back side. 32 people have been killed and several others injured," Farooq told reporters. "There are women and children among the dead. Some dead bodies are beyond recognition.”
