Lou Piniella Named National League Manager of the Year

Chicago Cubs skipper Lou Piniella has been named the National League Manager of the Year after the Baseball Writers’ Association of America gave him the nod over Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel.

The Cubs had a National League best 97-64 record and won the National League Central but lost a heartbreaking NLDS series to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

For Piniella, this is his third Manger of the Year award but his first as a National League manager.
