Arcade Fire and Foals lead nominations for the 2011 Shockwave NME Awards.
Foals are up for four of the night's biggest awards: Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Album for 'Total Life Forever' and Best Track for 'Spanish Sahara'. They also pick up a nomination in the Best Artwork category, making them the most nominated act.
Arcade Fire join Foals in the Best Live Band section and share their other three nominations with fellow US Rockers My Chemical Romance, with both bands up for Best International Band, Best Album and Best Video for their tracks 'We Used To Wait' and 'Na Na Na' respectively.
Joining Foals in the Best British band section are Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, Foals, Kasabian and Muse, while Best International Band also features Kings Of Leon, The Drums and Vampire Weekend.
Approximately half a million votes have been cast by readers of the magazine to decide the award winners.
Elsewhere at the awards - held on February 23 at London's Brixton Academy - trophies handed out will include Best Solo Artist, Best Dancefloor Filler, Hero Of The Year, Villain Of The Year, Best New Band and Best Band Blog Or Twitter.
Nominated in both of the last two categories, Theo Hutchcraft of Electro pop duo Hurts tweeted: "People of The World! We have been nominated for 'Best New Band' at the NME Awards. VOTE HURTS (sic)"
Also awarded will be the annual NME Godlike Genius award, which it has already been announced will be given to Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who will perform with his band at both the awards and NME's Big Gig, which takes place on February 25.
