Matt Baker has been confirmed as the new host of 'The One Show'.
The former 'Blue Peter' star will officially take over from Jason Manford - who quit the programme following stories he had exchanged a number of lewd messages with female fans via text and twitter - on February 14, although he will continue to present fellow BBC show 'Countryfile'.
He said: "I'm over the moon to be joining 'The One Show' as a full-time presenter.
"The BBC has made everything possible so I can continue presenting 'Countryfile'. It's the ideal combination for me and I can't wait to get started."
Matt will join Welsh presenter Alex Jones on the sofa, who alongside Jason replaced Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley as the faces of the show when the old hosts left to begin working on ITV1 breakfast show 'Daybreak'.
BBC1 controller Danny Cohen confirmed Matt, who took part in this year's 'Strictly Come Dancing', would be the best person for the job.
He said: "With such a wide range of experience including 'Blue Peter', 'Countryfile', and 'Strictly Come Dancing', Matt's perfectly placed to take his place on 'The One Show' sofa alongside Alex Jones."
Writing on her twitter this morning Alex expressed her delight at the appointment.
She said: "All has finally been revealed. Bring on Matt Baker!! X(sic)"
