Princess Mary plans Australia visit

Denmark's Princess Mary is planning to take her newborn twins to visit her native Australia.

The royal is making arrangements to take her as-yet-unnamed twins, born on January 8, to her home country, so she can introduce them to her relatives.

The princess told Australia's Herald Sun: "We don't have complete plans arranged just yet, but it's hopefully not too far away.

"We are looking forward to introducing them to friends and family back home."

Mary, 38, and her husband Prince Frederik, 42, left Copenhagen's University Hospital two weeks ago after the birth of the twins, who are presently known as Lille Pige, which is Danish for 'little girl', and Lille Dreng, which means 'little boy', which they will be called until their christening in three months time.

The princess, who is originally from Tasmania, has also told how the twins sleep in separate cribs on eco-friendly sheets in the bedroom of their parents at Amalienborg Palace.

The couple have two older children together, Prince Christian, five, and Princess Isabella, three.

Although the baby's names will not be revealed until the christening, an internet poll of more than 13,700 Danes chose Harald, Gorm, Sven or Knud as preferred names for the prince, while Caroline, Sophie, Louise or Charlotte are current favourites for the princess.
