Elton John won't sing at royal wedding

Elton John "doesn't expect" to be asked to sing at Britain's Prince William's wedding.

Although the legendary singer performed at the funeral of William's mother Princess Diana in 1997, the 63-year-old has revealed he doesn't expect to be invited to sing at the royal nuptials on April 29 - because he doesn't know the prince or his brother Harry very well.

He said: "I'm not playing at the wedding. I haven't been asked and I don't expect to be asked."

"I've only met them twice--once when they were young and once at the Diana Memorial Concert."

The songwriter admitted his only link to the royal family was his friendship with Diana.

He told Hollyscoop: "I knew their mother but that is the only thing. They're great kids. She would very proud of both sons.

"I just hope they have the most wonderful day and life together. They seem so happy."

Earlier this month it was reported that Sir Paul McCartney would perform at the wedding but a royal spokesperson denied the claims saying nothing has been finalised.
