EastEnders' Syed and Christian to split over baby dilemma?

EastEnders' Syed Masood and Christian Clark could be set to part ways over their baby dilemma.

Marc Elliott - who plays Syed in the BBC One soap - admitted the couple's differing opinions on whether or not to try for a surrogate child could totally "shatter" their relationship.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Just because they're a happy little gay couple looking into having a baby at the moment, that certainly doesn't mean it's going to last.

"It could well be that the surrogacy issue completely shatters their relationship, which is typical of 'EastEnders' in terms of putting people together and then tearing them apart. Although they are strong and united at the moment I'm not sure how long it's going to last."

Despite their challenging storylines, Marc explained he and co-star John Partridge - who plays Christian - have great banter, and he would be happy to "snog anyone" in the soap.

Speaking at The Toy Fair at London's Olympia Grand Hall, he added: "They could have told me to snog anyone and I'd have been alright with it. Even Dot Cotton!

"John and I have got great banter and have been very comfortable together since day one. We always knew where this story would be heading."

However, his on-screen mother Nina Wadia - who plays bossy Zainab Masood - is jealous of the pairing, as she wanted John for herself.

She joked: "I only took my part because I thought I'd be the one getting to snog John! They lied to me, how disappointing that I'm the wrong gender."
