Billie Piper glad Call Girl has ended

Billie Piper wanted 'Secret Diary of a Call Girl' to end before it started "scraping the bottom of the barrel".

The 28-year-old actress - who plays high-end escort Belle du Jour in the saucy ITV2 show - revealed the fourth series of the risque programme will be the last, as she doesn't think Belle's antics should be forced into seedy territory.

She explained: "I think we've pretty much been everywhere with the stories and as that's at the heart of every episode you wouldn't want to exhaust it to the point of just complete ridiculousness and seediness.

"I really like this job but you always want the story to have legs and not be scraping the bottom of the barrel. I think if we go any further then we might be guilty of that."

However, Billie - who has a two-year-old son Winston with her actor husband Laurence Fox - admitted while she is "confused" as to why people were so shocked when she assumed the role in the first place, Belle will bow out in a "shameless" fashion.

She added to The Northern Echo newspaper: "I didn't think it would be as shocking as it was, and I didn't really think that me being in it would be shocking. I just thought I'm an actor and it's just acting.

"It's really honest and dramatic and I think it ends in the way it started - unapologetic and shameless."
