2008 CMA Awards Winners: Kenny Chesney Wins Fourth Entertainer of the Year Award, Carrie Underwood Nabs Female Vocalist of the Year
The 42nd CMA Awards is now in the books and just like the 40th and 41st CMA Awards Kenny Chesney was named the Entertainer of the Year award. It is Chesney’s fourth CMA Award for Entertainer of the Year; he earned the nod in 2004 as well.
Chesney wasn’t the only one maintaining a streak as Carrie Underwood collected her third straight Female Vocalist of the Year award.
While Chesney and Underwood have put together impressive streaks nobody in recent times has dominated the CMAs like Brad Paisley as he earned two more awards, Male Vocalist of the Year and Music Video of the Year to bring his total to 11 awards, all since picking up the Horizon Award in 2000.
Country music continued to honor Rascal Flatts as the band earned their sixth consecutive Vocal Group of the Year Award, a category they have dominated since 2003.
Repeat was the theme on Wednesday night as Sugarland earned their second consecutive Vocal Duo of the Year.
Country legend George Strait picked up for Single of the Year for “I Saw God Today” and Album of the Year for “Troubadour.”
Song of the Year went to Jennifer Nettles while Lady Antebellum picked up a CMA Award for New Artist of the Year.
On a night of country music a bit of rock slipped in as Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant and Alison Krauss earned a CMA for Musical Event of the Year.
