BBC Three commissions second series of lesbian drama

BBC Three has commissioned a second series of lesbian drama 'Lip Service'.

The raunchy series - which focuses on a group of young gay women living in Glasgow - is to return to screens after its initial run attracted over 500,000 viewers for each of its six shows.

Writer and creator Harriet Braun says: "I am incredibly happy to be given this opportunity to take the characters forward and to allow all of our loyal viewers a chance to get to know them even better. I've got some great twists, turns and surprises up my sleeve for series two."

There is even talk of the show - which has a cast led by upcoming actresses Laura Fraser, Ruta Gedmintas and Fiona Button - being moved to a late-night slot on one of the broadcasters flagship channels, BBC Two.

Matthew Read, Executive Producer of BBC Drama, said of the recommission: "We were delighted by the audience response to Lip Service - both in terms of its loyal fan base and the level of discussion online - so it's incredibly exciting to be moving forward with a second series."
