Spending on Computer Training in Virginia Should Increase in 2011

The east coast tech boom is back. Information technology, along with most economic sectors, was hit hard by the recent global economic downturn – but today, IT offices are filling up again throughout the state of Virginia. A local IT training referral and connection company, ComputerTraining-Virginia.com, is reporting higher demand for computer training in Virginia with the start of the new year. Company founder, Ralph Sita, Jr., CPA states: We attribute much of the surge to an influx of new contracts being offered within the DoD and other federal agencies."

The Dulles Corridor, which generally runs along Virginia State Route 267, is quickly making the twin counties of Fairfax and Loudoun one of the nation’s largest IT hubs. In fact, the Dulles Tech Corridor is now home to more satellite and telecommunications companies than any other region in the world. AOL Time Warner, AT&T, Nextel Communications, Sprint, and Verizon are among the scores of major telecommunications companies calling Northern Virginia home. Additionally, the presence of Cisco Systems, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Siemens, and other major government contractors is helping the Dulles Corridor to dwarf California’s Silicon Valley. Fortune magazine has reported that more than half of United States internet traffic flows through the Corridor. Companies in this area are largely the beneficiaries of the new agency contracts becoming available. With new and enlarged Government spending, Norther Virginia IT companies can spend more on training.

Expansion Brings Call for IT Training

This year, as IT companies expand along the Dulles Toll Road, the demand for local IT training is high. Contractors and project managers in communities such as Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, and Reston are seeking courses that give their employees the edge over competitors for government contracts. ComputerTraining-Virginia.com provides connections to all types of training including on-site or at vendor campuses. Red Hat training, Security, Microsoft SharePoint and Cisco training are among this year's most popular IT certification courses.

If the fast start to spending on computer training in Virginia indicates a general industry rebound, then 2011 is poised to be quite a growth year for information technology.
