Chase And Status snub Rihanna

Rihanna has been snubbed by drum and bass duo Chase And Status.

The British 'Let You Go' group formed a close bond with the 'Only Girl (In The World) hitmaker after producing a track on her 'Rated R' album - but when it came to their new record, they turned down the opportunity to work with her to focus on home-grown acts.

The duo- who are also producers for Jay-Z's Roc Nation label in the US - said: "There was talk about working with Rihanna and other names linked to Roc Nation but we weren't tempted.

"We wanted the album to showcase fresh and cutting-edge UK talent. We're known for working with new artists such as Plan B and that's what really excites us."

Rapper Plan B's career went stratospheric shortly after he worked with Chase And Status - Saul Milton and Will Kennard - on the track 'End Credits', and they are hoping the same will happen to some of the other stars they worked with for their new album 'No More Idols'.

Saul added to the Daily Star newspaper: "On the album we've worked with Clare Maguire - who just has this amazing voice and will appeal to everyone - and Mali, Delilah and Tempa T, all of whom are wicked."

The group did include one US star on their new album, Cee Lo Green, but kept its vibe by making it about London in the 80s.

"Admittedly Cee Lo isn't British but he sings on a track called Brixton Briefcase, which is about London in the 80s when guys used to walk around with ghetto blasters on their shoulders.

"That's what a Brixton briefcase is and Cee Lo loved it. There was no ego at all. He was just like: 'I'll do whatever you want me to do.' Working with him was cool."

'No More Idols' is released on January 31.
