American authorities confirm an American woman was killed by a group of gunmen in Mexico on Wednesday afternoon. The Pharr Police Department in Texas released a statement saying 59-year-old Nancy Davis was traveling with her husband Sam Davis on a highway in the northern state of Tamaulipas when a black truck carrying men armed with guns attempted to pull them over.
The Davis’ attempted to get away, but the gunmen “discharged a weapon at the victim’s vehicle and a bullet struck the victim Nancy Shuman Davis on the head,” the police department said.
Sam Davis drove against traffic across the Pharr International Bridge, which connects Pharr, Texas to Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Nancy was rushed to a hospital in McAllen, Texas. She was pronounced dead about 90 minutes later.
The Davis’ worked with the Gospel Proclaimers mission in Mexico.
